Hair Drama

So I just made myself a hair appointment but I found myself delaying calling them to which I told myself "You're a big girl, Katie...just pick up the phone and get this over with." Why such hair drama? Good question. With naturally curly hair, it's really hard for me to find a good hair style that I like how it looks on me and a stylist who can deliver. It took me until my senior year of college to finally find a stylist in town instead of waiting until I go home because I really dislike finding new hair places. I love long hair but I hate how it looks on me...but that doesn't stop me from growing my hair out for a year and then chopping it all off because I hate it.

I also love "swoop" bangs (I called them side bangs at my last appointment and got corrected) but I HATE having hair in my eyes which is my predicament right now. Every time I watch season 3 of The Hills (guilty pleasure...I'm an addict) I find myself wishing my hair looked like Lauren's...something similar to this:
Not a great picture but the best I could find...if you've watched the show you probably know...or maybe I'm just a creep.

I just need to learn how to braid my bangs, obviously.

Anywho...I just have no idea what to do with my hair. I know a lot of celebs have been parting their hair down the middle but I know that doesn't look good on me. I'm thinking I need to grow the bangs out...which means my hair is going to look dumb until they're grown out.
This is probably the best my hair has ever looked, sadly. This is probably my best bet.

Basically, if anyone has any hair advice, I'd appreciate it!

I'm not much help - I'm pretty boring when it comes to hair. But I do have to say that I'm still in love with swooped bangs and will probably be rocking them until my kids send me in to a makeover show. :)

I love swoop bangs too! But of course I can never get them to look right and it drives me crazy when it's in my face. I'm pretty sure that I braid my bangs back more than I wear them down. It's super easy because even if it's not a super tight braid it still looks cute. I think it's easier to do when your hair is wet too.

Personally, I LOVE your hair shoulder-length. I think it's super cute. I'm afraid I won't be much help with the hair dresser search, though. :-( However, I CAN teach you how to braid your bangs. I braided mine almost every day when I was growing mine out.

Thank you ladies!
Kim - That does look super easy! I will definitely be trying that soon!
Laura - I may take you up on that...I love my swoop bangs but there are some days where I just want to rip them out of my head because they won't stay out of my face!
