Day C - Credit a Friend

So I'm really bad at doing this ABC blogger thing every day...more like once a week. And since I know none of you really want to hear about my boring weekend consisting of work and homework, I'll just get to it.

I've thrown around ideas about who to credit but I really liked Adrien's idea of crediting her husband. So I'm dedicating this post to my amazing husband :)

Jake is my very best friend in the whole world. I tell him everything. He's there to laugh with me or hold me when I'm crying. He puts up with my craziness (because I'm pretty crazy) and he's still so in love with me. We've been together for six and a half years and we're so completely different from who we were back then but we've grown so much together. It seems like some couples who have been together for years and years grow apart over time but we've grown closer throughout the years. I understand him so much more than I did even a year ago, let alone six, and I know he knows me better...sometimes I think he knows me better than I know myself.
Our very first homecoming together :) October 2005

He was there for me as a friend through my first and only break-up with a boyfriend. He was there when my family moved from an hour away to 3 miles away from his house. He introduced me to his friends but let me make friends of my own, even though he warned me strongly against some of the friendships I formed. He graduated high school with me. He started college with me. He was there through thick and thin, through friendships that came and went, through tough decisions that had to be made. It's hard not to be best friends with someone who has been there with you through so many changes in life. Besides God and my family, he's been a constant in my life for over six years.

After prom junior year - 2007

So I'm just going to brag on Jake a little bit more :) Here's some really great things about my husband:

- He is SO hard working and dedicated. I'm such a baby when it comes to working and I have to have some free time to relax and not work. He can (and has) work 70 hour weeks on very little sleep and still find time to spend time with me. I don't know how he does it but I really appreciate it!

- He is the financial person in the relationship. His major is finance so it makes sense, right? He pays bills, manages our accounts, and makes sure we're going to have enough money to cover the next month of bills. He's constantly telling me not to worry about money but he will also be honest with me when we have to go without something because we can't afford it. Paying bills would stress me out but he takes care of it and I have never heard him complain about it once. And we've only had a bill be late once or twice in the last year and a half :)

- He is so outgoing. He's such a social person which compliments my personality well.  If it were up to me we'd stay in every night watching netflix. I enjoy people once I'm out and with them but he's my motivation for getting out of the house in the first place. I'm a lot more extroverted than I used to be because he makes me want to be. He pushes me to be more social and outgoing and I'm appreciative of that :)

- He is very considerate of other's feelings. I'm the one involved in human environmental studies and I've taken way more classes on relationships and things like that but sometimes I swear he is way more sensitive to other people and their feelings than I am. He can be really sweet when he wants to be :)

- He strives to be a godly man and leader of our little family. I know one day he'll make an amazing, godly father to our children. He may not do it perfectly all the time but it's something he really strives for and I respect him so much for that!

- He's just so great! Haha...of course he does things (leaving clothes everywhere, never putting his dishes in the dishwasher, etc.) that drive me absolutely insane. And our relationship is NOT perfect and I don't want to give any impression that it is. We're both human. We have had many ups and downs in our relationship. But I could not ask for a better person to spend my life with. I get excited when I think about all the things we still have to look forward to in our relationship and there's no one I'd rather do those things with :)

Playing DDR in our own way :)

Graduation :)

Engagement pictures!

Love him!

So there you have it. I'm sure you're all puking right now ;) I hope everyone is blessed enough to marry their best friend :)

Day B - Blogger Blast

School has started, I'm starting a second job next week, and I've officially sucked at keeping up on this ABC blogging thing. Oh wellll. I've been avoiding this day because I don't really know what to do but I also can't skip to day C so I guess I'll doing something quick and lame and give some fellow bloggers a little shout out! All the other ABC bloggers have had such cute blogger blast ideas and mine's kind of lame but...oh well.

There were two blogs that led to my decision to start blogging. Amy and Cassie. They both posted a link to one of their blogging entries around the same time. I did start secretly stalking you for a little while Cassie!

I decided to start this little blog and soon found Sarah, Adrien, and Kim through Cassie's blog. Beth also started blogging shortly after I did and I found her through a facebook post. There's a few other followers and people I follow mixed throughout but these girls are MUCH more faithful bloggers than I am. You should check out their blogs sometime :)

It's been a slow and somewhat steady start to the blogging but I know one day I'll appreciate every meaningless thing I write down now...and I owe it to all my fellow bloggers for helping me realize that!

Day A - About Me

1) Where do you live? In a cute little apartment :) I love it!

2) Are you married? Yes, I am! To the love of my life :) He's seriously the best. There's some things he does that get on my nerves (like the call of duty he's loudly playing right now) but he's so great! I think about how much crap he puts up with from me and how much he does for me and I know we're meant to be (mostly because no one else would want me...bahaha).
Favorite picture!

3) Do you have children? Not unless you count the cat (who is more like a child than I like to admit). I can't wait for kids someday, though. I already have names picked out.

4) Are you an only child? Nope! Life as an only child would have been so lonely...I love my sister and wouldn't trade her for anything! Who would I have to pick on if I were an only child!? ;)
Haha love your squinty asian eyes sissy!

5) What is your dream job? Sigh...I have so many. I wish I could do it all. Once I have children, I want to be a mother and a wife....basically a homemaker :) It just sounds perfect! I would love to work with an adoption agency until then. Nursing also still interests me but I don't want to do more schooling if there's a chance I won't be working for a long while after having children. Deaf education also still interests me. I'm really hoping to take a sign language class soon and maybe do something with that. Ugh...decisions, decisions.

6) What is your best quality?  Hm...I'm pretty smart, or so I'm told. Book smart at least. I love to laugh. I'm very empathetic.

7) What is your worst quality? I can be extremely selfish. I have a temper. I love alone time too much and don't like being around groups of people for extended periods of time.

8) Are you a wall flower or attention seeker? I'm a wall flower for sure. Sadly. I'm that person who gets around a big group of people and sits in the corner waiting for people to come find me. I hate that about myself. Jake brings out my social side. I wish I were that person that people were just drawn to but I'm just not. I'm awkward as heck to so I never want to seek other people out. I'm sure I probably come off as snobby and stand-off-ish and I don't like that about myself. Urgh.

9) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? I'd love to live in California or NYC but wherever my family lives is where my heart is and I'll never be able to stray too far from them.
Love them!

10) What is something people don't know about you? Hm....that's a really good question. I feel like I'm pretty much an open book. I want a huge family. Like 6 kids huge. I feel like no one knows that because I don't tell people because they look at me like I'm insane. I'm sure after 1 or 2 I'll question my sanity but I really want a lot of kids. I love family!

ABC Blogging!

Ok so I've seen a lot of people doing this ABC blogging and I really want to give it a try...I'm not very creative so I'll probably steal others ideas or just not do some of the days but we'll give it a shot!

1. Save the above picture and upload it on your first ABC Blog Challenge post with a credit link to this blog.

2. Follow the below list of blog post topics. You can interpret them however you want. They don't have to be about you or your life...they can be about anything. Play around with them!

3. Have fun with it!!

Hair Drama

So I just made myself a hair appointment but I found myself delaying calling them to which I told myself "You're a big girl, Katie...just pick up the phone and get this over with." Why such hair drama? Good question. With naturally curly hair, it's really hard for me to find a good hair style that I like how it looks on me and a stylist who can deliver. It took me until my senior year of college to finally find a stylist in town instead of waiting until I go home because I really dislike finding new hair places. I love long hair but I hate how it looks on me...but that doesn't stop me from growing my hair out for a year and then chopping it all off because I hate it.

I also love "swoop" bangs (I called them side bangs at my last appointment and got corrected) but I HATE having hair in my eyes which is my predicament right now. Every time I watch season 3 of The Hills (guilty pleasure...I'm an addict) I find myself wishing my hair looked like Lauren's...something similar to this:
Not a great picture but the best I could find...if you've watched the show you probably know...or maybe I'm just a creep.

I just need to learn how to braid my bangs, obviously.

Anywho...I just have no idea what to do with my hair. I know a lot of celebs have been parting their hair down the middle but I know that doesn't look good on me. I'm thinking I need to grow the bangs out...which means my hair is going to look dumb until they're grown out.
This is probably the best my hair has ever looked, sadly. This is probably my best bet.

Basically, if anyone has any hair advice, I'd appreciate it!

Confession Friday

I know I've been a bit of an absent blogger lately but I figured since it's the last Friday of the year I should do a confession friday :)

I confess that I have the biggest love/hate relationship with my job. I work in a restaurant and for the most part everyone there is awesome and I love it...however, the downsides are huge. As a host, I feel like no matter what I do someone is ticked off. Either customers are yelling and demanding certain things or servers are yelling about not being sat/being sat/still being there/whatever. There's one server in particular that came up last night dropping f-bombs because we were saving her bigger table for a party of 8 that was coming in. I'm sick of being everyone's stress relief through them yelling at me. It's just so disrespectful.

I confess that after all the yelling and demands of last night I came home, took a bubble bath while ranting to Jake, watched How I Met Your Mother, and ate half of a medium thin crust pepperoni and bacon pizza. It was delightful.

I confess that having free unlimited soda at work is affecting how my body looks already. We don't do scales in this house but I can see the extra pudge on my stomach and it's gotta go. Water with lemon only from now on!

I confess that I'm laying under the covers in our guest bedroom right now and Nigel is curled up under them with me. I love lazy winter break days :)

I confess that Jake and I are worse than little kids when it comes to Christmas. One of us would wrap a present for the other person while they were gone and once the recipient of the present saw it they would immediately ask "Can I open it now?" Needless to say, none of our presents made it until Christmas day.

I confess that I have been blessed beyond belief with the family that I have, whether it's immediate, in-laws, or extended family. SO blessed. And so glad we got to do 4 Christmases in 2 days :)

I confess that I haven't bitten my nails in probably the longest time I've ever gone and they're super long. Kind of annoying really. Especially when typing.....

I confess that I'm reading Heaven is for Real right now and I'm still kind of skeptical as to how legit it all is but it's making me so excited for heaven :) I want to believe it's real but I also don't want to take it all as truth and end up believing something that is false....but either way I cannot wait until the day when I am there. It's going to be so great :)

Any end of the year confessions from you all?!

Weekend Wrap-Up

So finally a Monday where I have something to blog about! Well at least Saturday morning and most of Sunday.

Friday - School. Work. Boring.

Saturday - We went to a tree farm and got our tree! 6.5 feet tall! It was a little chilly and Jake had to work by noon so we kind of rushed through it. But it was still fun. They had horses pulling wagons to take people out to the farms and back which I loved! Then I worked Saturday night...so a little excitement but not a whole lot.

Sunday - Church. Whitney and her parents were gracious enough to open their home to the masses of college students and feed them afterwards. Jake and I made the mistake of heading to Target on our way out where we got some lotion (hello chapped hands! Another reason to dislike winter) and of course I had to get a coffee from Starbucks :) Well by the time we got to Whitney's, we were scraping the edges out of the chicken pot pie pans....haha. 2 9x13s of green beans, 3 9x13s of chicken pot pie, and a crock pot of soup all gone by the time we got there. But Whitney's dad went and got pizza. Jake and I were very thankful for their family that afternoon :) After hanging out with some friends and getting some lunch, we came back to our apartment and decorated the tree!
Nigel was obviously a big help

All decorated!

Family photo :) and Nigel's crazy eyes.

It makes me so happy to come home and see the tree! Although, our floor needs vacuumed something fierce. Which will be what I do when I get off of here. Anyway, then we headed over to Nick and Angie's apartment to decorate gingerbread (graham cracker) houses with them, Joel, and Amy! We stayed there all night decorating, playing games, chatting, eating...it was a lot of fun :) I love having couple friends to hang out with!

Our house!

Hard at work decorating :)

Their masterpiece :)

All in all, it was a successful weekend. Only one more left of the semester! Then things will die down around here a lot :( I am looking forward to a break though!
